Woman rescued from burning Gatineau apartment

Fifteen people are displaced after an apartment fire in Gatineau’s Buckingham neighbourhood Thursday night.

Fifteen people are displaced after an apartment fire in Gatineau’s Buckingham neighbourhood Thursday night.

Gatineau fire officials said in a news release they were called to a three-story building at 375 Des Pines Street around 7:30 p.m.

They said crews helped around 15 people get out of the building, including a woman who had to be rescued from a second-floor window using a ladder.

Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $200,000.

The Gatineau Red Cross is offering help to the displaced residents.
