Weekend crashes in Ottawa region leave 2 drivers dead

Two men are dead after separate crashes Sunday in west Quebec and eastern Ontario.

Two drivers in the Ottawa region are dead after separate collisions Sunday.

On Sunday evening a 53-year-old Gatineau man died after the car he was driving crashed in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 148 just west of Aylmer.

Regional police MRC des Collines said the 1998 Ford Taurus travelling west crashed at 5 p.m. on the highway between Maple and Elm roads.

Police said the circumstances of the collision are still under investigation, but said speed may have been a factor.

On Sunday morning at 7:15 a.m. the driver of a pickup truck travelling south on Butler Road in the Township of Admaston/Bromley also died when his truck left the road, struck a culvert and flipped over several times.

The 27-year-old driver died at the scene and was the lone occupant of the vehicle, Ontario Provincial Police said.

OPP are asking for anyone with information on the collision to contact Renfrew OPP at 613-432-3211.
