Temperatures in Ottawa have eclipsed an all-time record for Jan. 12, rising to close to 7 C on Saturday.

The city hit its high temperature at about 2 p.m. Saturday, and by noon had passed the record for Jan. 12 of 4.2 C, set in 2007.

Sunday is expected to have a 60 per cent chance of rain, with temperatures are expected to hit a high of 10 C.

Ottawa had more 60 centimetres of snow fall over the Christmas holidays, leaving some streets a mess and homeowners concerned about snow build-up on their roofs.

Some of that snow had already started to melt, however, with warmer temperatures late this past week — including freezing rain on Friday.
