Via train involved in fatal collision in Ottawa

Emergency personnel confirmed a person died after they were struck by a VIA train on the tracks west of Moodie Drive.

Emergency personnel confirmed a person died after they were struck by a VIA train on the tracks west of Moodie Drive.

Train 644 was travelling east from Toronto to Ottawa when it struck the pedestrian Tuesday evening as it headed toward Fallowfield Station. The train was estimated to arrive in Ottawa at 7:54 p.m.

Police said the coroner has been called to the scene.

No one on the train was hurt. But passengers were taken off the train to waiting buses, according to Ottawa paramedics.
