Van strikes girl in Kanata, sends her to hospital

A 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries after she was struck by a van in Kanata at Eagleson Road and Abbeyhill Drive.

A 17-year-old girl remains in hospital in critical condition after she was struck by a van in Kanata.

Police and paramedics responded to a call for a pedestrian struck at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Eagleson Road and Abbeyhill Drive.

A girl was struck by a van and she was unconscious when paramedics arrived, they said. She sustained head, face and lower-body injuries and paramedics took her to The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus.

The teenager was in serious condition when she arrived at hospital, paramedics said.

Ottawa police are investigating. They closed area roads for a time but those roads have since reopened.
