Ultralight plane crash in Tyendinaga Township kills 1

A 49-year-old man from a small town north of Kingston, Ont., is dead after an ultralight plane he was piloting crashed on Sunday.

Pilot Russell Wood of Harrowsmith, Ont., found dead inside wreckage, OPP say

A 49-year-old man from a small town north of Kingston, Ont., is dead after an ultralight plane he was piloting crashed on Sunday.

The crash happened in Tyendinaga Township just before 2:15 p.m. Sunday, in a wooded area north of Lazier Road west of Wyman Road.

When firefighters arrived at the scene they found that the ultralight plane had been destroyed, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Pilot Russell Wood of Harrowsmith, Ont., was found dead inside.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be assisting with the investigation.
