Two 18-year-olds are recovering from stab wounds following a major disturbance Sunday night at Carleton University.

Police say it wasn't a riot, but very nearly became one.

It started when the fire alarm went off at Oliver's pub just before 11:30 p.m.

About 200 people rushed out of the building and the fire department called police in to control the crowd.

About 25 officers and a tactical team arrived. Police say the crowd became "aggressive and hostile."

One 19-year-old man was arrested.

It's not believed he had anything to do with the stabbing. That's still under investigation.
