Changes are coming to part of Ottawa’s Transitway as part of ongoing light rail construction.
Starting Sunday, OC Transpo vehicles moving between Campus and Laurier stations will shift to the east side of Nicholas Street and to lanes on Laurier Avenue that will be exclusive to buses.
Laurier station has moved a bit north to accommodate the shift, with no change to the Campus station.
This means right turns won’t be allowed from northbound lanes on Nicholas Street to eastbound lanes on Laurier Avenue.
Instead, motorists can go through the intersection and turn off onto Nicholas’ southbound lanes, where it’s possible to turn onto Laurier.
These changes will remain in effect until 2018, when the $2.1-billion LRT system is scheduled to be finished.
That east-west LRT line will include a Campus station near the current location at the University of Ottawa.
