The Black Keys to headline Ottawa Bluesfest opening night

B.B. King, Björk, Fun, Weezer highlight lineup for Ottawa music festival, running July 4 to 14
The Black Keys, consisting of Patrick Carney (left) and Dan Auerbach, are a two-piece band that has taken their raw rock and roll and brought it to the mainstream.

The Black Keys will headline the opening night of the 2013 RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa, festival organizers announced Thursday.

The rock duo, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Dan Auerback and drummer/producer Patrick Carney, won a Grammy for their last album, El Camino.

This will be their third appearance at the Ottawa music festival, two years removed from a delayed and rain-soaked performance.

Bluesfest, which runs from July 4 to 14, also added acoustic rock guitarist Everlast and Canadian indie rock band, Yukon Blonde.

The newest list of additions are:

  • Nick Waterhouse.
  • The Relatives.
  • DVBBS.
  • Adrian Lux.
  • The Funk Hunters.
  • MonkeyJunk.
  • Old Man Luedecke.
  • Family of the Year (FOTY).

The festival lineup already features B.B. King, Björk, Fun, Weezer, The Tragically Hip, Alice in Chains and the band that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday, Rush.

Tickets and festival wristbands are on sale.
