A teenager is in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in south Ottawa Wednesday night.

Ottawa paramedics said they were called to the intersection of Bank Street and Hunt Club Road just before 8 p.m. Wednesday where a 19-year-old woman was struck.

They said she was treated for serious head injuries and a fractured leg before being taken to hospital.

She was in serious condition when she arrived, according to paramedics. The injuries were not life-threatening, according to an Ottawa police spokesman.

Police said they believe the pedestrian — not the driver — was at fault in the collision and charges are not expected to be laid.

Two people pulled from vehicles on Highway 417

A separate crash happened about half an hour later in Ottawa’s east end.

Fire officials said crews were called to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 417 near St. Laurent Boulevard just before 8:30 p.m.

Both vehicles were off the road, with one on its side, requiring crews to extricate two people.

Paramedics said they treated three people on scene but didn’t take anyone to hospital.
