A 16-year-old girl faces a dozen charges after police arrested her in connection with a series of gas station robberies in which store clerks were threatened with a hammer.
Police said in three instances this month a lone female had walked into a gas station and asked for cigarettes. When the clerk asked for payment she brandished a hammer and demanded money.
The first two incidents on June 7 and June 11 happened at gas stations on Fallowfield Road and Woodroffe Avenue, respectively. In both cases the suspect fled with cash.
In a third incident on Sunday at a different gas station on Woodroffe Avenue, the suspect fled after the clerk grabbed the hammer.
Police arrested a 16-year-old teen on Monday and have charged her with three counts each of robbery, wearing a disguise, possession of a weapon in the commission of an offence and breach of undertaking.
She is scheduled to appear in youth court Tuesday.
