A man and woman, both 81, were taken to hospital after an SUV crashed into a home in Kanata Sunday morning.

Fire officials say the vehicle crashed just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Steeple Chase Drive and Woodbridge Crescent.

They said the SUV crashed into a spruce tree on the lawn of a home, before flipping on its side and sliding into the home. The two people were trapped inside.

Firefighters said they were able to extricate the female driver and male passenger through the windshield, and the two were conscious and talking the entire time.

Officials said there was also minor damage to the home at 321 Steeple Chase Dr.
