A 35-year-old Ottawa man is facing 23 weapons charges after police found 13 firearms, brass knuckles, nunchucks, throwing stars, knives and a lot of ammunition inside a Manotick home on Thursday.

In the summer of 2012, Canada Border Services Agency officers "launched an investigation into the illegal delivery of prohibited weapons to a residence in Ottawa," an Ontario Provincial Police media release said.

On Friday, Ottawa police, OPP and CBSA executed a search warrant at the home on Manotick Main Street.

Police seized:

  • 13 firearms, including a restricted handgun, a prohibited handgun, a prohibited sawed-off shotgun, a restricted long gun, an air gun and eight non-restricted long guns.
  • Three brass knuckles.
  • Two brass knuckles with knives.
  • Two high-capacity magazines.
  • One set of nunchucks.
  • Four throwing stars.
  • Four butterfly knives.
  • Three stiletto knives.
  • A large quantity of ammunition.

Benjamin Windsor, 35, of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Two counts of improper storage of a firearm.
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
  • One count of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.
  • 17 counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

Windsor was scheduled for a bail hearing in court on Friday. The investigation is continuing.
