Charges to be laid in fatal east Ottawa crash
Alcohol, speed believed to be factors in crash that killed 54-year-old woman

A 54-year-old woman is dead and charges are expected to be laid against a 24-year-old man after a two-vehicle crash in far east Ottawa.
Ottawa paramedics, police and firefighters responded to the crash at the intersection of Innes and Dunning roads at about 7:43 a.m. Sunday.
Paramedics treated both crash victims — the driver of each vehicle — but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
The man was taken to hospital in critical condition with serious, life-threatening injuries to his abdominal area, paramedics said. Firefighters were forced to extricate the man from his vehicle.

He was released from hospital Sunday afternoon and taken into police custody. They said charges would be laid and speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.
The crash happened in Cumberland Estates where Innes Road ends and Beaton Road begins.
Police closed Dunning, Innes and Beaton roads in the area for more than five hours but traffic was flowing again after 1 p.m. The investigation continues.
