A 22-year-old university student faces several charges, including break and enter, forcible confinement and armed robbery, related to this weekend’s home invasion and abduction of a west Quebec couple.

Police in the Pontiac said they arrested Joshua Branker late Monday afternoon in the course of their investigation into the couple’s abduction and transport to L’Isle Aux Allumettes on Friday.

Branker's lawyer Romain Goyard said his client maintains he's innocent.

"He doesn't agree with the accusations against him. He knows he's not perfect but he doesn't think he's guilty," Goyard said.

University student Joshua Branker appeared in court today, the third suspect charged in connection with the Bouchette kidnapping and robbery.

Two other males, aged 16 and 17, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Police said the two seniors were forced from their cottage in Bouchette, Que., about 115 kilometres northwest of Ottawa, and driven two and a half hours southwest to the island near Pembroke.

At least one of the suspects drove away with their car, along with personal items that police said were taken during the home invasion, after the couple was tied up and left in a barn.

The vehicle was found Saturday morning in Pembroke.

The 16-year-old was arrested Saturday shortly after the car was found, while the 17-year-old turned himself into police later that night.

The list of charges for the teens includes kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault and vehicular theft following their court appearance on Monday.

The teens, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and Branker will appear in court again on Thursday for bail hearings. There are no details as to how the teens and Branker are connected.

Crown prosecutor Christine LaFrance said charges against the three are so serious that she's going to fight to keep all of the accused in jail until trial.
