Charges are pending against a man from Gatineau, Que., who took police on a three-minute car chase that ended with the driver veering into a ditch.
Police pulled over a driver just after 4 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Lorrain and Maloney boulevards, but when they walked towards his vehicle he sped away.
The vehicle sped up to above 100 km/h at one point, police said, but at one point the driver took a wrong turn at a high speed and veered off the road on Labrosse Boulevard North near the on-ramp of Highway 50 eastbound.
A man, 27, was arrested, though he tried to resist arrest. He also refused a breathalyzer test once he was taken to the police station.
The man will be charged with resisting police, impaired driving, refusing a breathalyzer, obstruction and assault of a peace officer and other violations of the traffic act.
A 22-year-old passenger in the fleeing vehicle was not charged.
The accused remained in custody and he was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
