Ottawa police are asking for the public's help to find three young men who robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint last weekend.

On Saturday, a taxi picked up the three suspects at a pub on Riverside Drive.

When they arrived at a plaza near McCarthy Road and Downpatrick Road, one of the suspects took out a knife, police said.

One of the men grabbed the driver and demanded cash, then all three fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The driver wasn't injured.

The suspects are described by police as follows:

  • The first is a male with dark complexion standing at about five feet seven inches tall with a medium, chubby build. He was wearing a beard with baggy pants and a dark jacket.
  • The second is a black male standing at about five feet seven inches with a slim build. He was wearing a moustache, dark pants, a jacket and a light shirt. He is a smoker.
  • The third is a male standing at about five feet eight inches tall. He was wearing black glasses and possibly a black jacket.
