Pedestrian struck at Barrhaven intersection

A 21-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries this morning after she was struck by a Sport Utility Vehicle at Woodroffe Avenue and Whitewater Street.
Paramedics said the SUV struck the woman just before 7 a.m., throwing her some seven to 10 metres from the point of the collision. She was treated for serious head injuries and a leg fracture. She was transported to hospital, where she is listed in serious condition.
Police remain at the scene of the collision.
Woodroffe Avenue was closed between Cresthaven Drive and Whitewater Street, but has since reopened.
