Cornwall students strike back

As English public elementary teachers in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board prepare to walk off the job Wednesday, high school students in several nearby communities staged their own walkouts Tuesday.
In the wake of unions directing high school teachers to cease supervising after-school sports and clubs, some students are striking back.
Students at St. Lawrence Secondary School in Cornwall ended their school day early and streamed onto the sidewalks to protest Bill 115, provincial legislation that forces a new contract on teachers and prevents them from striking.
Students in Smiths Falls also staged a similar walkout on Tuesday.
Despite protests, most students and parents in Cornwall that CBC spoke with blame the provincial government for precipitating the current work-to-rule action, effectively eliminating extra-curricular activities at most high schools.
On Thursday, there is a large protest planned by high school students at Queens Park in Toronto.
