The trial of a Pembroke dentist accused of impaired driving causing death will likely not hear any more evidence until the new year.

The crash on Highway 17 outside Arnprior in March of 2011 killed Brian Casey, a 50-year-old father of three.

Christy Natsis has pleaded not guilty to three charges, which also include dangerous driving causing death and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 causing death.

After several weeks of trial, scheduling problems could delay proceedings until March or beyond. Lawyers are expected to appear in court Friday to set a date for the trial to resume.

Accident reconstruction upcoming

The crown has not finished its case and when it restarts, the trial will hear evidence from police reconstructing the accident.

This reconstruction will show whether the accused drove into Casey's lane or vice-versa.

Natsis had a blood-alcohol reading of more than double the legal limit two hours after a fatal head-on crash, the trial has already heard.

The defence is arguing the evidence should not be accepted by the judge on the basis OPP Const. Ryan Besner lacked the grounds to arrest her and violated her constitutional rights to obtain legal advice by interrupting and later ending a cellphone conversation with a lawyer.
