A 53-year-old woman from Alfred, Ont., was killed in a head-on crash Thursday night on County Road 17, just east of the village.
It happened at about 8:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police said, between Montée Péladeau and County Road 15.
A Nissan heading east, being driven by the woman, crashed into a westbound Mazda for reasons that are so far unknown, OPP said.
A woman driving the Mazda suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Hawkesbury General Hospital.
Collision investigators are probing the crash.
Traffic is being detoured onto Sainte-Catherine Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
