Pilot avoids serious injury after forced landing
Pilot was heading from Arnprior to Smiths Falls when he had engine trouble, fire officials say

A 68-year-old pilot escaped serious injury after his two-seat plane went down in a cornfield about a half hour south of Ottawa.
Paramedics, police and firefighters responded to the crash at about 5:20 p.m. near 2932 Mackey Road in North Gower.
Fire services spokesman Marc Messier said a volunteer firefighter who lived nearby helped the man to the side of the road. Paramedics then took over his care.
Paramedics also said the man was taken to hospital to be assessed for minor injuries.
The pilot told firefighters he had engine trouble forcing him to make the landing. The plane flipped onto its roof when it landed.
Messier also said the pilot was heading from Arnprior to Smiths Falls.
