The deaths of an Ottawa area mother and infant were a murder-suicide, according to a news release from police northeast of Toronto.
Andrea Damude and Brock Damude were found dead in the trunk of a sedan in March northeast of Toronto. (Facebook)Andrea Damude, 37, and her eight-month-old son Brock of Petawawa, Ont., were found dead in the trunk of a sedan on March 10 in Sunderland, Ont., about 95 km northeast of Toronto.
Forensic tests were recently completed and investigators say there was no evidence the mother and son were abducted or forced into the trunk by another person.
Investigators also say they believe the deaths were "a tragic event with the mother willingly entering the trunk of the vehicle with the child," according to the Durham police news release.
The mother and son were living in Petawawa, about 140 km northwest of Ottawa, and they were headed to Orillia, Ont., for Damude's 37th birthday.
The husband and father, Brett Damude, is a soldier based at CFB Petawawa and has toured in Afghanistan.
Police have now closed the investigation.
