Cab drivers with Westway Taxi in Ottawa have voted in favour of a new labour deal, ending the threat of a possible strike.

Drivers voted 71 per cent in favour of a new deal that will give drivers a $60 a month reduction in the dispatch fee each driver pays, caps the number of taxis at 175 and allows all drivers to be rotated through the more lucrative Para Transpo routes, according to union representative Amrik Singh.

Westway operates close to one in eight of the 1,300 taxis operating in Ottawa.
