A North York man drowned Saturday evening in the Ottawa River near Foresters Falls, about 120 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.
Thang Duc Ngo, 28, had been enjoying a day of rafting with three friends at Wilderness Tours.
During a break from rafting, they were free to relax and have a swim, police said. That’s when Ngo disappeared in the river.
Wilderness Tours staff searched and located Ngo underwater.
When they got him to the river bank, staff performed CPR, helped by paramedics. But Ngo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Renfrew OPP are investigating under the direction of the coroner’s office, and a post mortem is planned.
The death is not considered suspicious, and no foul play is suspected, said OPP Const. Sarah Turcotte.
