A 62-year-old man is dead after his motorcycle was struck Thursday night by an oncoming vehicle on Highway 17, west of Petawawa, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police said the collision happened at 8:30 p.m. on the highway west of Paquette Road.
An eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Colbalt crossed the centre line into westbound traffic where it struck the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, Bernard Surette of Laurentian Hills, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 39-year-old man driving the car was taken to Deep River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway 17 was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
Police said the roads were clear and dry at the time and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers are still investigating the crash.
