A 59-year-old man suffered crushing injuries to his chest after he was pinned by a forklift at a worksite in Edwards, Ont., Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at a commercial sod farm on Yorks Corners Road at 10:05 a.m.
The worker was pinned between a fence and a transport trailer for about 30 seconds before being freed by a co-worker, who then dialed 911, paramedics said.
The man remained conscious and was listed in serious but stable condition at The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus trauma unit.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating.
Edwards is about 30 kilometres southeast of downtown Ottawa.
