A 44-year-old Gatineau man suffered serious facial trauma Wednesday afternoon after two pitbulls attacked him on Lorrain Boulevard.

Gatineau police said the man was interested in a car parked along the side of the road, which its owner was selling.

The two pitbulls attacked the man as he approached.

The man was rushed to hospital with multiple lacerations on his face, Gatineau paramedics said.

Police said the owner of the dogs recovered them and is keeping them inside.

Police said it was too soon to say if any charges are expected.

The City of Gatineau is reminding its residents to keep potentially dangerous dogs, including pitbulls, in closed buildings or locked enclosures, and to use a leash and muzzle them when they're outside.
