Ottawa police arrested 14 men after a "john sweep" in Centretown and Vanier on the weekend.

More than 30 Criminal Code charges were laid, along with four Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges.

One of the men was allegedly found with a loaded 9-mm handgun, and that investigation was turned over to the guns and gangs unit.

Another man was held by police on an immigration warrant.

Six of the men qualified for john school, a pre-charge diversion program that uses a restorative justice approach to educate people about the effects of prostitution in communities, police said.
