Cruiser damaged in hit-and-run accident

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a hit and run that damaged an Ottawa police cruiser on Highway 417 at the Cyrville Road overpass Saturday evening.
An Ottawa police constable was helping the OPP with traffic control at the scene of an accident in the eastbound lane when his car was hit by another vehicle, which stopped briefly and then took off.
Police said the cruiser was parked on the right side of the highway with its emergency lights on when it was hit on the drivers’ side by a dark blue Hyundai. The Hyundai lost a side mirror in the collision.
The OPP is asking for anyone with information about the incident to call Sgt. Todd Sterritt at 613-270-9171.
