An experienced Ottawa police officer working at the provincial courthouse has been suspended for allegations of insubordination, CBC News has learned.

Sgt. Rohan Beebakhee is charged with three counts of insubordination, which means disobeying authority, under the Police Services Act.

Beebakhee was the police liaison for witnesses at the Elgin Street courthouse but is now suspended with pay.

He is scheduled to appear in court July 10.
