Driver killed in crash near East Hawkesbury

One person is dead after a car collided with a tractor-trailer on a county road in East Hawkesbury, Ont., about 115 kilometres east of Ottawa.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene of the crash on County Road 17 just before noon on Thursday.
Investigators said the driver of a compact car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver was not hurt.
Police said they would not identify the victim until next of kin had been notified.
County Road 17 is closed between Tupper Street and Golf Road while police investigate. A traffic detour is expected to be in place for several hours.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
