Police have now reopened the pedestrian crossing on the Alexandra Interprovincial Bridge after an Ottawa man's body was found Sunday afternoon.

Gatineau police found a man's body on the ice that blankets the Ottawa River closer to the Gatineau shore at around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Police confirmed the man is from Ottawa and is in his 40s.

Police completed their investigation of the scene on Monday and reopened the bridge. An autopsy of the man is expected to be conducted this week.

The investigation continues and the death is still considered suspicious.
