A man working as a security guard at the Civic campus of the Ottawa hospital has been charged with sexual assault after an incident involving a female patient with a developmental disability.

Ottawa police's sexual assault-child abuse unit said they laid charges after an investigation into a Dec. 23 incident at the hospital.

The security guard, a 42-year-old Ottawa man, has also been charged with sexual exploitation against a person with a disability.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
