The first lasting snowfall of the season in Ottawa snarled traffic on the Wednesday morning commute in Ottawa and led to dozens of collisions.
Snow and freezing rain were dumped on the capital overnight, leading to a messy early-morning commute.

One OC Tranpso bus went off the road on the Transitway between Lincoln Fields Station and the 417. The driver, the lone occupant of the bus, escaped through the roof of the vehicle.
Another bus went off the road at Conroy Road and Hunt Club Road. There were no injuries in either incident.
Ottawa police said their were 46 collisions in the Ottawa-area as of noon. Ottawa paramedics did not report any major injuries.
About two to four centimetres of snow was expected to fall in the region, though a number of people in Ottawa's outlying areas reported seeing more on the ground when they woke up Wednesday morning.
The snow began in Ottawa at about 1 a.m. and cleared in the late morning.
Temperatures in the Ottawa region are expected to rise Friday and Saturday to close to 10 C, so the snow is likely to be gone by the weekend, according to CBC Ottawa climatologist Ian Black.
