An Ottawa woman has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a man found on Bronson Avenue last weekend.

Ottawa police charged 24-year-old Layla Farook Aman with failure to remain at the scene causing death in relation to the death of 22-year-old Dan Miller of Stratford, Ont. She was released with a promise to appear Oct. 3.

Miller's body was found at Bronson Avenue and Somerset Street West at about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 17.

Paramedics transported him to hospital where he died from his injuries.

A funeral for Miller, an aspiring musician involved in Ottawa's punk rock scene, was held in Stratford Tuesday.

Police are asking anyone with information on Aman's whereabouts leading up to the incident on the night of Aug. 16 and the early morning of Aug. 17 to contact them.

The black Nissan believed to be involved in the crash had been located earlier, police had said. Sources told CBC News police took a sheared-off mirror from the scene to a Nissan dealership, where they found out the make and model of the car.

Police are still investigating.
