An Ottawa man who murdered his estranged wife in front of their children in 2008 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Demetrios Angelis asphyxiated 42-year-old Lien Li Angelis and rolled her body in a rug before calling police.

Angelis and the two children — an eight-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy — were at the apartment on Sunday, June 8, 2008 when police arrived to discover the body.

Angelis, who was found guilty of second-degree murder, will be eligible for parole after 12 years, minus time served.

The two children remain in foster care, according Angelis's lawyer John Ale.
