Ottawa police charged a taxi cab driver with sexual assault after it was alleged a mentally disabled woman was touched inappropriately.

Police launched an investigation on Nov. 10 after an adult woman with a mental disability filed complaints.

Gazban Abdalrahman, 38, of Ottawa was arrested Tuesday. Police said he was released on standard conditions to keep the peace and stay away from the alleged victim.

Staff Sgt. John McGetrick told CBC News it's up to the suspect's employer to decide whether he can continue to work during the time before his trial.

McGetrick also asked anyone with information that may help the case to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

"We have no reason to believe there are any other victims," McGetrick said.

Abdalrahman is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.
