Emergency crews arrived on Wednesday on the scene near Bank St. and Rosebella Ave. to discover a car had collided with a house. (CBC)A woman in her seventies died Wednesday after her car struck a house in the Blossom park neighbourhood.
Ottawa paramedics said they were called to the scene at 12:45 p.m. and found a 72-year-old driver of a sedan trapped inside her vehicle and without vital signs. It took 20 minutes to remove her from the vehicle, but paramedics were unable to resuscitate her.
Firefighters at the scene believe the woman suffered a heart attack while she was driving east on Rosabella Avenue near Bank Street.
Her car hit the back of a small house, shifting the building several inches forward and toppling part of the chimney, paramedics said.
The home was unoccupied at the time. Firefighters have cut off all utilities to the house due to the risk of fire.
Investigations into both the accident and the structural status of the house are ongoing.
