Four of Ottawa's road-building projects that are being funded by federal and provincial stimulus money are behind schedule, the city's director of infrastructure said Thursday.

Wayne Newell told councillors at a technical briefing that the following projects were experiencing delays:

  • $48-million extension of Terry Fox Drive.
  • $65-million to widen Hazeldean Road.
  • $53-million southwest Transitway extension.
  • $20-million Hunt Club extension.

Newell said some of the projects still needed to acquire land or complete environmental approvals before moving forward.

Newell said he expects all of the city's 115 projects, which are worth more than $375 million, will be completed on time and under budget.

The federal and provincial governments agreed to fund two-thirds of the cost of approved municipal infrastructure projects last June, but the projects have to be completed by March 2011.
