Ontario Provincial Police have recovered a police cruiser stolen from a house in Long Sault, Ont. — but the officer's gun is missing.

Police said an off-duty officer parked the unmarked 2005 silver four-door Chrysler outside her home near Cornwall early Monday night.

At about 1:30 a.m. ET Tuesday, the officer woke up and realized her home had been broken into — and her vehicle had been stolen from the driveway.

Police said the vehicle was recovered on Alice Street in Cornwall around 1 p.m. ET Tuesday.

The officer's .40-calibre handgun, some ammunition and handcuffs that were locked in a box in the cruiser's trunk when the vehicle was stolen were not there when the vehicle was recovered. OPP body armour and an OPP uniform are also missing, police said.

The Cornwall Community Police Service and the OPP are still investigating the theft.

Police have asked that anyone with information about the incident contact the nearest police agency or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
