Police received a call about a disturbance at the Minto Suite Hotel at around 4 a.m. Sunday, then arrested 9 people following a 7-hour standoff. (CBC)Nine people were taken into custody at a downtown Ottawa hotel Sunday morning after a seven-hour standoff with police.
Five women and four men in handcuffs were led out of the the Minto Suite Hotel on Lyon Street at about 11 a.m. and placed in police vehicles.
Police said they received a call about a disturbance at the hotel about 4 a.m. and spent several hours negotiating by telephone until the people in the room agreed to surrender.
A weapon was reportedly found inside the room.
The names and ages of the individuals haven't been released and there's no word yet whether charges will be laid.
