Owners of more than a dozen Ottawa driving schools rallied next to striking DriveTest employees at the Walkley Road DriveTest centre today.

Employees at Ontario's DriveTest centres have been on strike since Aug. 21, after talks with their employer — Serco DES Inc — broke down.

The driving school owners say their enrolment is suffering because of the strike, because students can't take the tests they need to get their licences.

George Hawa, owner of Rite-Way Driving School, says he's losing $300 a day.

"It affects your family," Hawa said. " We can't survive like that. I need to quit this job and do another job."

Today's rally ended at Premier Dalton McGuinty's Ottawa South constituency office. The striking DriveTest employees want the provincial government to step in and help resolve the labour dispute.
