Police have charged an Ottawa man with attempted murder and aggravated assault after a fight early Sunday in the city's south end.
Paramedics were called at about 1:45 a.m. when a passing motorist found a woman, covered in blood, staggering along a suburban street, police said.
Police investigators said Monday the 54-year-old woman had been attacked at the corner of Bank Street and Athans Avenue.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.
Besides attempted murder and aggravated assault, a 62-year-old man has been charged with breach of parole.
He was scheduled to be in court later on Monday.
