The judge in the influence-peddling trial of Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien is set to deliver his decision Wednesday.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Douglas Cunningham was originally scheduled to deliver the ruling Aug. 12, but rescheduled it to Wednesday, at 10 a.m. ET, without giving a reason for the change.

O'Brien was charged after Terry Kilrea, his opponent in the 2006 municipal election, said he had been offered to have his campaign expenses paid and help to get an appointment with the National Parole Board in exchange for dropping out of the race.

O'Brien pleaded not guilty at the opening of the criminal trial on May 4.

The lawyers' closing arguments wrapped up on July 7.
