Gatineau police released a sketch Tuesday of a man who was seen near an Aylmer church Thursday, shortly before it was destroyed by fire. (Courtesy of Gatineau police) Police in Gatineau have released the sketch of a man who was seen near an Aylmer, Que.-area Roman Catholic church shortly before the 120-year-old building was destroyed by fire on Thursday.
St. Paul's Catholic Church was gutted by a fire at around 1:30 a.m. ET Thursday.
Isabelle Poirier, a Gatineau police spokeswoman, said police found gas containers near the historic stone building, and evidence of forced entry.
Police said the man they're looking for is between 35 and 45 years old, about five-foot-10, and weighs about 250 pounds.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark baseball cap, jeans and a beige sweater.
