Teachers and students at three south end Ottawa schools were given the all-clear to leave their classrooms just after 2 p.m. Thursday, after police investigated reports of suspicious persons in the area.

Roads around St. Patrick's Catholic High School, Ridgemont High School and Charles H. Hulse Public Elementary School were closed Thursday afternoon.

An administrator with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board said she got a call from police at about 12:30 p.m. saying they had closed the roads after receiving two cellphone calls reporting two suspicious people in the area.

Sharlene Hunter said students were then kept inside their classrooms with teachers.

Officials at St. Patrick's told CBC that no one was allowed in or out of the school for about 90 minutes, but would not say why.

At about 1:15 p.m., police tactical teams were seen at the school.
