Police have laid an additional 19 charges against a Kingston, Ont., man accused of blackmailing young girls into performing sex acts in front of webcams.
The new charges came after eight victims were added to the allegations against Mark Bedford, a 21-year-old one-time computer sciences student.
Police said in the summer that investigations were looking at possible victims in Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Kingston, Edmonton and in the county of Kent, England.
At the time of his arrest, police alleged that a man preyed upon girls between the ages of nine and 15 by impersonating their friends and making them perform sexual acts in front of a webcam.
When the girls realized they were communicating with a stranger, the man allegedly threatened to send the images to friends and family members.
Bedford faces a slew of luring, child pornography and extortion charges and is free on bail until his next court appearance in February.
