Ottawa's Queensway-Carleton Hospital, which sits on land owned by the National Capital Commission, is getting a welcome break on its rent.

The hospital had worried about the rising cost of the location after the rent reached nearly $25,000 last year. It said further increases could cut into the budgets for patient care or nursing salaries.

However, under a deal brokered by two Conservative MPs, the hospital's rent bill will reportedly be dropped to a token $1 a year.

Neither John Baird (West-Nepean) or Pierre Poilievre (Nepean-Carleton) will confirm details. However, the Tory MPs say they will have good news to share at a hospital barbeque on Wednesday.
