The National Capital Commission is ready to go ahead with its clean-up of Lebreton Flats.

Among other things, the area will be the site of the planned new Canadian War Museum.

Tuesday night, the NCC unveiled the first stage of the project at a public meeting. Next month, crews will dig up the contaminated soil in the northwest corner of the property and transport it to a landfill. The area to be cleaned up is about 30,000 square meters.

Actual construction is scheduled to begin on the museum in September of this year.
